Mrs. Nora Roxy Murray Murray Panes

Nora Roxy Murray Panes, (born June 25, 1912, Melanchton Twp, Ontario to Isabella 'Belle' Thomson, daughter of Mary Thom, William Watson Thomson, and John James Murray, son of Isabella Mae Hewitt, William Murray, and died November 5, 2001 in Peterborough's Civic Hospital from a cracked pelvis), was predeceased by 9 siblings. Nora, who attended Orangeville Grade 10 Commercial (7 years of school), was baptised, August 22, 1926, in Galt's Grand River by Dean Brown, Dr. Shields of Toronto Baptist Seminary, after attending school in Rising Sun, near Dover, Delaware for 9 months, where she lived with her family and Thomson relatives. She became private secretary to Dean Brown, at Toronto Baptist Seminary, marking Greek, Hebrew and Cults' tests. December 26, 1942, Nora married RCAF Corporal Oswald 'Jim' Panes (born March 23, 1910 in Argoed, Gwent, South Wales to John Panes and Elizabeth-Jane Morgan, orphaned at age 9, coal-miner in 1924, immigrant to Canada in 1928, attended Three Hills Bible College, Alberta, died Jan. 28, 2009 at home in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada at almost 99 years of age) in a double ceremony at Orangeville, Ontario Baptist Church, with her sister, Jean Jessie Murray and Harold Bayham. In 1945, after David's birth in 1943, 'Jim' became a fitter at the CGE in Peterborough, Ontario, retiring in 1975, and Sunday School Superintendent, pianist and soloist at Bethel Baptist Church. During their 59 years of marriage in Peterborough Nora taught herself Greek, Hebrew and the organ, Jim pursued oil painting, playing the organ (and clarinet), gardening, until his 98th year before his death and they travelled to Hawaii, Israel, Egypt, Rome, Europe, the U.K, Texas and Maryland to attend their grand-daughters' graduations, weddings. Nora Roxy and Oswald 'Jim' are survived by four offspring: David Thomson, Sherie Murray, Gordon James, Bonnie Elizabeth, five grandchildren: Naval Lieutenant Tonette Renee, Ceri Sian Barnes, Adrian James, Nerissa Amber Falvey, Vanessa Joy Panes, 3 great-grandchildren: Chase James, Jacob Morgan, Renee Barnes.
