It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Wilson Preston at the age of 81 on December 31, 2024.
Paul was born in Belle River, Ontario on July 13, 1943. At an early age Paul and his family moved to Peterborough, Ontario.
He is survived by his wife Victoria; his children Kirk (Leanne), Jeffery (Bobby-Jo), and Karen; his grandchildren Jared, Trenton, Erin, Nolan, Liah and Drew; his sisters Margaret (Wayne, predeceased) , Shirley (Gord), brother-in-laws Bob (Shirley), Wayne (Coral) and sister-in-law Linda (Gary), nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his sisters Alison (Pete), Janet, and his brothers Joe, Alex, and his parents Wilson and May
Paul completed his Toolmaker Certificate of Apprenticeship through the Canadian General Electric Co. Limited on February 18, 1972 and retired with 45 years service. Paul was very involved in his community and joined the 4H club where he met his wife Victoria and joined a square dancing team entering in multiple competitions. Paul was involved in his children’s activities and helped develop the youth soccer club in Peterborough. Sunday night you would always find Paul playing baseball for the St. George’s baseball team.
Paul was a kind, caring and generous man that was well known for his quick wit one-liners. Saturday mornings his kids would hear, “Rise and Shine, its daylight in the swamp”; after grace he would add on, “good food, good meat, good gosh let’s eat”; on your way out the door, “Here’s your hat, what’s your hurry” or “See you later alligator, after while crocodile”.
Family and friends are invited to Paul’s celebration of life on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Ashburnham Funeral Home located at 840 Armour Road. So, “Come fourth when you’re fifth, and don’t be late”.
For those who wish, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
