April 16, 1949 – September 25, 2024
Pauline was born in England and came to Canada with her family as a child. She mostly lived and worked in the Toronto and Niagara area, and about this time last year she moved to Peterborough ON.
We are saddened by the sudden untimely heart attack after spending a joyful day with her beloved lifelong best friend and her family.
Pauline has touched many lives both here and overseas and she will always be remembered by her beloved sisters, nephew, niece, and many friends and family.
Predeceased by her partner Douglas Dawson and parents Richard and Patricia Lee, she will definitely be sorely missed.
When she was younger Pauline would light up a room with her open, welcoming smile and vivacious nature. Her spicey personality still showed up at 75. Her family and friends meant the world to her and she was generous in every way with her time, money and efforts. If you were in difficulty she was fearlessly in your corner. With her keen awareness and concern for others she saved two lives as well as influencing for the better a number of her colleagues’ work situations.
Although she might challenge her friends, she epitomized the very best friend one could have.
A person who survived many tough times, Pauline could still see the good parts of the world with delight and wonder. She was very artistic and enjoyed her beautiful collectibles and she was renewing her interest in drawing. On her last day she was laughing in the swimming pool and looking ahead with optimism. Those close to her knew her as a spiritual seeker and lover of truth.
Animals enjoyed a special connection with Pauline including the horses she worked with when she was younger. Her goldendoodle buddy, Finn Bessey, stayed at the door after Pauline left in the ambulance and only could be persuaded away after Pauline passed several days later.
Pauline was in the Canadian Army Reserve. She also parachuted, trained horses, loved her dogs and cats and thoroughly enjoyed camping and road trips.
With her infectious enthusiasm for an adventure, she would happily drive any relatives, visiting from afar, on great tours and enjoyed boating across Lake Ontario and up and down the Trent Severn Waterway.
Pauline had a heart that encompassed the world. She is missed beyond words.
Many thanks to the staff at Chartwell Jackson Creek Retirement Residence for the respect shown that gave dignity to her last year.
Respect and gratitude to the amazing response team of The Township of Selwyn Emergency Services.
We thank the ICU team at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their tremendous care until Pauline peacefully passed on the morning of September 25, 2024.
Pauline was cremated as per her express wishes and her ashes will be lovingly scattered in places that would delight her.
