Born in Port Hope, Ontario, to Winnifred Margaret Gist and Richard Roland Cowan Davison. Sister: Margaret Joan Davison Elliot. Married Janet Frances Raymond on June 23, 1962, in London, Ontario. Sons: Scott Richard Davison (Amanda Lynne Cooke, granddaughters: Everleigh and Amelia) and Neil Raymond Davison (Claudia Emilia Tagliasacchi, grandchildren: Jumaani (Mady Bouchard, great grandchildren: Percy, Caleb and Farrah), Skaai and Canaan. He is preceded in death by brother-in-law Carl Elliot, parents Winnifred Margaret Gist and Richard Roland Cowan Davison, grandparents Ethel Jane Robson and Charles Enoch Gist, and Roland and Marie Davison.
Doug achieved a B.A. from Waterloo University, an M.Ed. from University of Toronto (OISE). He worked as a teacher in Ontario communities: Timmins, Blenheim and Chatham, as well as Durham Region, as a Vice-Principal in Peterborough at PCVS, Thomas A. Stewart SS, Crestwood SS and then as a Principal at Lakefield District SS, and finally Kenner CVI, retiring from there in 1995. He retired to the family farm North of Peterborough with his wife Janet.
Doug was an active member of the Salvation Army, volunteering with the Songsters and a supporter of the Scouts Troupe from the Salvation Army Peterborough.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to members of the Palliative Care team at PRHC and to the team at Hospice Peterborough for their care and professionalism during Doug’s time there.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough on July 20, 2024, at 11am.
