September 9, 1940 to October 14, 2023
Bob Clysdale died peacefully and gently after a brief illness at Hospice with his wife of 58 years, Kathleen by his side. He is mourned by his son Alexander and Al’s daughter Lorna and by his son James and Jamie’s wife Karen and their children Katie, Thomas and Miriam. He is predeceased by his father Milton Clysdale and his mother Cora Clysdale(Young) and by his brother Paul , sister Arlene Stephens and brother-in-law Richard Stephens.
Bob was a teacher at Crestwood Secondary School for many years. He felt fortunate that he had a job he liked and students he liked and respected. In his eyes every person had talent and a story to tell and Bob was always willing to listen to and learn from the people he met.
In retirement he had more time to renovate and repair his old house, learning new skills for every job. He travelled and was surprised by how much he enjoyed each trip because travel had never been something on his life list. Part of the attraction was experiencing things with friends and family. Fishing hunting canoeing woodworking and canoe building with a friend and restoring a Norton motorcycle with another friend were highlights of those years. He did so much and learned so much.
For all of his life dogs and cats had been drawn to Bob and they were a valuable part of his life. It was no surprise then that he was so happy as a grand father. GrandBob was a baby whisperer and he always knew what would amuse a small child. His grandchildren loved him and he adored them.
In all of his life Bob felt lucky, fortunate in his parents, his job, his wife and children, grandchildren and friends. It surprised him that he had such a good life and he was grateful.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday October 21, 2023 from 9:30-11am at Ashburnham Funeral Home 840 Armour Road, Peterborough . A memorial service will follow at 11am.
