I’m so saddened to hear of the passing of Bob Davidson. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family during this incredibly difficult time.
Bob was more than a coach to me — he was a great friend, a mentor, and truly a father figure. I can honestly say he is the reason I am where I am today in my baseball coaching career. I owe so much to him. In my first years navigating the coaching world, Bob was always there with advice, encouragement, and belief in me.
I will never forget the day he first approached me in Newmarket while I was coaching the YSBA PeeWee All-Star team. He introduced himself and asked if I’d be interested in doing more coaching in the fall. Of course I said yes. He told me where to be and what time — it was for Team Ontario’s provincial youth program, running their fall sessions in Ajax. Suddenly, I found myself working with some of the top players in the province, alongside some of the best coaches in Ontario — and even the country. What an honor and privilege that was.
From there, Bob and I became very close. I would travel to Peterborough in the winter to run pitching clinics with him. Together we made trips to Cobourg, Mississauga, and Richmond Hill, helping aspiring players chase their dreams — including my own Richmond Hill Phoenix team. We also shared unforgettable March Break trips to Florida for spring training with Team Ontario. Those were some of the very best times and memories of my life.
Bob gave so much to the game, but even more to the people in it. His impact on me — and on so many athletes and coaches — will never be forgotten. I will forever cherish the memories, the lessons, and the friendship.
I am deeply sorry that I am unable to attend his funeral today. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
May his memory forever be a blessing.

Sorry to hear of Bob's passing. 

I first met Bob in the summer of 1965 at Riverside Park.   Riverside Baseball Park in East City had a tremendous impact on youth, as it had obviously had a great influence on Bob's life.

Bob was a well-rounded athlete.  I played football & basketball at TASS,  as he was a valued teammate and a true leader.

Baseball was his true passion & love. I was fortunate to have played with him and against him. Eventually, I became an OBA Umpire and witnessed his talents in his role as a catcher/pitcher.

Bob was a true mentor and gave of himself to develop minor league athletes by passing on his great knowledge  & passion of the game. This had a tremendous influence on the athletes  Bob coached.

Yes, East City has lost a true sportsman and a good man.

Our heartfelt condolences to Lorraine and family for the the loss of Bob, a great man. He was a respected sportsman who played with a competitive spirit, supported by his high level of skill. I had the honour of playing on teams with Bob from high school basketball to a championship OASA fastball team in Barrie. Yes, he was an integral part of a ball team outside of East City too. Bob was a dependable person to have as a teammate both on and off the field, just the same way as he valued family and friends in life. 
Bob has surely made his mark....and a strong one. Thank-you Bob.

My deepest condolences to the family for your loss.  I got to know Bob many years ago through umpiring him as a player then a coach at Riverside Park.  He was a fierce competitor but always a gentleman.  Bob's love of baseball will always be fondly remembered.
