1949-2022
Bob was born in a little community on the east coast of Newfoundland. He splashed in the sparkling waters of the little brook at Birchy Cove and felt the sun warm his upturned face while the ocean breeze ruffled his hair. He played hockey on the frozen ponds and was a formidable opponent on the ice.
At night he felt the warm glow of a wood stove and the wonder of a night sky filled with a million stars. He loved, and was loved, by his small family and he never wanted for those things that truly mattered.
When he was very young he set out in a wide world and found a vibrant city. Perhaps he always dreamed of the ways he would change his world and how he could improve he lives of countless individuals that he met every day.
In those early days in Ontario he enjoyed time spent with his new friends and worked hard to create a 200 acre farm in Havlock. He moved on to many different careers but he always worked hard, had an abundantly generous spirit, and was deeply committed to his faith and personal beliefs.
As time went on he lived and loved and forged new bonds with wonderful people. He created new families and made many lifelong friends. He served his church and community and had a quiet and unassuming faith that was strong and true.
But it was those humble origins to which he always returned, it’s where he leaned to appreciate the little things. He came home faithfully every year all throughout the seasons of his life to recharge and refocus, wrapped in the love of that small family that missed him and loved him., dearly.
I will carry him home for this one final time and he will become one with the sea and the sky in the little cove that he called home.
We will always remember him but especially when looking to the horizon at the place that he loved best. Continue to fly high, Uncle Bob. Until we meet again you will be loved, remembered, treasured, and missed.
Deeply mourned by his sisters Jane and Elizabeth and his brothers Herb, Leslie, and Clarence. Numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
