Peacefully on December 5, 2022 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Born May 31 1927, predeceased by his loving wife Lenore, Roscoe was the son of Nancy Glover Moorman and George Dracup Moorman, Roscoe lost his mom before turning 1 month old, his father later remarried his Step Mother Edna May Irwin Moorman. Roscoe attended Foxboro Public School and Belleville Collegiate.
Roscoe met Lenore West in December of 1952 and after a short courtship they married on June 27, 1953. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage until Lenore left to be with her Lord and Saviour.
A lifetime of varying occupations, he was employed first at Bata shoe Co. American Optical, Morrison Brass, General Electric, Ostrander Jewelers where he completed a jewelers course and received a certificate of Jeweler, next was Parks Photography Studio and then Outboard Marine tool room as a machinist, Roscoe retired from this last position in 1982. Lenore and Roscoe enjoyed many summers on their boats, travelling the Trent waterway system and the Rideau Canal. Roscoe loved to travel and especially liked cruises, which included Hawaii and the Caribbean. Roscoe enjoyed being a volunteer at Meals on Wheels as well as driving many cancer patients to their appointments. Roscoe enjoyed woodworking. There are many of his works proudly displayed at Northminster United Church where he and Lenore were Charter Members. Their dogs, Lady, Duchess and Buddy, were very fortunate papillons that were loved and well taken care of as Roscoe and Lenore’s companions. Zoey and Boots, their sweet loveable cats were wonderful companions for them at Applewood retirement home. Roscoe began skiing in his 40’s and continued into his mid 80’s. He was fortunate to make many great friends at the ski chalet, many of whom he has spent time with in his later years too. In April of 2018 they sold their home of 62 years and moved to Applewood Retirement home in Peterborough. There they were well cared for by many staff members. After losing his beloved wife Lenore in November of 2021, Roscoe was fortunate to meet a very special lady, Dee with whom holds a special place in his heart. Roscoe and Dee enjoyed playing cards and walking to a few local restaurants, they made many great memories in their short time together. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 11:00 am from the COMSTOCK-KAYE Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough. All are invited to view the service by Livestream...please scroll down to services and select 'Join Livestream'. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:45 am to 10:45 am. A reception will be held immediately after the service followed by the Interment at the Belleville Cemetery. Thank you to the staff at Peterborough Regional Hospital on 3C.
