Beloved mother of Justine and devoted Nana to Raquel. Sharon was born in Toronto to Anne Burke and the late Albert (Abe) Burke. Loving sister to the late Jeffrey, and survived by sisters Linda (Martin), Susan (Mark), and her many nieces and nephews. Sharon was a skilled and dedicated therapist in private practice for over 25 years, helping hundreds of individuals and couples in the Toronto and Northumberland region. Her passion for working with both new and longstanding clients was unwavering, and this close knit community, comprised of both her clients and colleagues, meant the world to her. She will be remembered for her welcoming and unconventional spirit. Sharon adored all of nature, loved camping, road trips, horseback riding, sewing and painting, and shared these passions with many of her close longtime friends and cherished family. Even as her health declined over the past year, she remained true to form, with her honesty, depth and humour, and a commitment to being there for others. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Eva’s Place or Covenant House in Toronto, in support of at-risk youth. Sharon was deeply motivated by the desire to help people of all ages, identities, communities and cultures in healing from traumatic life events.
