I am the oldest grand child of Opa and Oma van Hoogmoed,                   oom Siebrand's parents. Met each other only a few times.
I live for more than 30 years in New Zealand.
I remember oom Siebrand as a kind person.

Very sad to hear that uncle Siebrand has passed away. For me he was a warm and cheerful uncle.  Always interested in the family. Years ago, when I was in Canada, he gave me a very warm welcome.

Life wasn't always easy for you.
You enjoyed life but took also full responsibility for the sometimes heavy circumstances on your way. We will remember you as an optimistic, joyful man who combined his love for his wife and children with a deep longing for his homeland. You were a real family man.

I will remember uncle Siebrand as a friendly, close and welcoming person. Dispite the distance and even though we don't saw eachother often he always was really interested in us.
When I was in Canada, years ago, I felt so welcom. Our visit to a café with countrymusic I will never forget. We danced together and both we enjoyd very much.
Although we can't be with you while you remember your loved one, you're in our thought from afar.

For many years Siebrand has been with us in Hooglanderveen. Herman and I liked that very much. He always said:" Ik ben tuus " .
He was always full of stories about his life and was always very interested in the family.
He was a beloved brother.

I am sorry for your loss. I remember very well our visit to uncle Siebrand in 1994 when my mother, Agnes van Hoogmoed, my wife and I were visiting Canada. It was a very hospitable welcome.We met a few times since then and he was always cheerful. That is how I will remember him.

My Uncle Sidney was an unforgettable man. I knew him only in my youth, but he was the kind of man that if you met him only once, his undeniable character would stay with you. He'll not be forgotten by all he met, and I'll cherish his strength of character.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sorry I can't be there.
