Stephen Ernest Burke

He leaves behind his beloved wife and life partner, Jackie of 62 & 1/2 years. Sadly, missed by his children, Stephen Jr. (Erika), (Jacqueline d. 2006) Stephanie Swenson (Dave), and Shane (Gene). He also leaves behind his dearest nine grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Born and raised in Cornwall, Ontario the son of the late William and Esther Burke and Son-in-law to the late George and Annette Villeneuve, brother to 15 brothers and sisters and brother-in-law to 6 brother and sister in laws.

In his early years, Steve joined the Navy and served with pride and dignity. After leaving the Navy, Steve became a self-taught Civil Engineer and home-builder.

Steve played a great deal of Oldtimers hockey, and was a superb minor hockey league coach.

Steve became an avid golfer at the age of 65, shooting his age at 78. In the summer of 2022, his last year of play, he played 50 rounds of golf.

Steve enjoyed many sunny days in his fishing boat along the St. Lawrence River from Cornwall to Amherstview. His last catch was a 7 lbs 4 oz Small Mouth Bass which was mounted alongside his largest catch, a 12 lbs 12 oz Pickerel.

As per Steve’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral.
