

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Walter John Myles in his 83rd year on Friday, July 4, 2025. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 55 years Barbara (nee Bird). He will be missed by his siblings Garry Myles and Connie Tippett (nee Myles). Beloved Uncle to Tammy Tippett and Billijohn and Jen Tippett. Cherished Great-Uncle to Abigail, Myles and Declan Tippett. Predeceased by his parents, Johnny and Alice (nee Parcells) Myles.
Walter’s family also wishes to express gratitude to his special friend and devoted caregiver, Dee Parkes.
Walter was born in Douro-Dummer Township and graduated from Teacher’s College in 1961. He began his career with CIBC, where dedication saw him rise steadily through the ranks within CIBC. His career eventually took him to Toronto, where he met his wife, Barbara. He and Barbara moved back to the family farm in Douro-Dummer in 1986.
Walter was instrumental in helping to create the Douro-Dummer Public Library, recognizing the transformative power of books and shared learning within the community. He contributed countless hours to the library’s growth and success, volunteering his time and energy to ensure it became a welcoming space for all.
