She was born in Austin, Texas on July 5, 1938. She married Jerry Nicholas on October 1, 1959.
Carolyn and Jerry started Nicholas Engineering, Inc. in Houston in 1968 and worked side by side for 35 years. They ran a very successful business together until retiring. At that point they moved full time to their 200 acre property in Willis, Texas. There, Carol spent most of her time tending to her extensive gardens.
She was an avid gardener most of her life and “could make anything grow”, staying outside from sunup to sundown and she was very involved in both of her children’s activities. She was her daughter’s Girl Scout leader and her son’s Little League coach. She was not only his coach but she also went the extra mile by mowing the fields and anything else that needed to be done. Later she became the “camping leader” for her granddaughter’s Girl Scout Troop and helped with various other projects and events as well. With each of her grandchildren, she was the first one to show up for any school or outside activity events even if it meant going to another city for what lasted only 5 minutes. Whatever she did, she gave 150% of herself.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Nicholas, her children, Pam Lewis and Chris Nicholas, and her grandchildren, Chris Lewis, Cara Lewis and Sophia Nicholas. She is also survived by her brother Eugene Ross.
