

She was born on January 11, 1919, to Alfred and Lydia (Belcher) Swinden in Floresville, Texas.
She lived in San Antonio, Texas, for more than 30 years and worked a pest control business with her husband, James, before making her home in Belton, Texas. She resided in Belton for 30 years. A care facility in Hutto, Texas, has been her residence for the past four years.
Alberta didn’t live for 107 years without being the force of nature we love and admire. She was fiercely independent and strong-willed. She expected honesty and fairness from and for others. Her loyalty to family and friends was only matched by her love for them.
She was preceded in death by her husband her husband of 55 years, James T. Shipp; her brothers, Ernest Swinden, Ceburn J. Swinden, and E. Dennis Swinden; and her sister, Esther Walker.
She is survived by her son, Jerrell Shipp and wife Becky of DeKalb, Texas; nephew, Ronald E. Walker and wife Merilee of Austin, Texas; niece, Connie Swinden of Belton, Texas; great-nephew, Wayne Walker; and great-nieces, Amy Flores and Melissa Walker; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Alberta loved and cherished her family and friends. Her memory will live on with all who knew and loved her.
She will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
