

He was born on December 15th, 1933, in Brady, Texas to Henry and Ida Owens. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Alberta Owens, his parents Henry and Ida Owens, brothers Benton Earl, Roger Dale (R. D.), Donald Ray, Harold Dean (Peanut), twin sisters Barbara Anne and Betty Nan.
He is survived by his 3 children, daughter Brenda Scott and husband Gary, son Mark Owens, Keith Owens and wife Lisa, 3 granddaughters Angela O’Leary husband Shawn, Kasey Bateman husband Brad, Zanna Joy Owens, and 4 great granddaughters Hannah O’Leary, Hayden O’Leary, Ellison Bateman, Addilyn Bateman, 2 step grandchildren Emily and Zach and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Allen attended Brady schools 1st-12th grade. He ran track for Brady High school graduating in 1953. The summer after graduation he enlisted in the Marines the following Christmas, while home on leave he married Frances Alberta Owens, and they moved to Camp Lejuene in North Carolina. After his discharge from the Marines, they moved to Austin where he became a typesetter. He worked for Steck Co., Nelson Typesetting, and finally G&S Typesetters until retirement. He did typesetting for many magazines like Texas Monthly, Texas Highways etc. He loved his football especially the Reagan Raiders (1970-1982) and the Texas Longhorns neither could have had a bigger fan. He worked taking tickets for both teams for many years. If you were lucky enough to know my Dad you had met one of the kindest, most honest, friendliest would do anything for anyone men around.
We would like to thank the staff at the Christopher House for all of their care and compassion at this difficult time.
We will miss you greatly but know in our hearts we will see you again.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on February 25th, 2025, at Cook Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville and will be officiated by Kirk Tooley.
