Amal was born on October 10, 1963, in Beirut, Lebanon to Francis and Saada Harb, and was the oldest of five children. As a young adult, Amal effused fun and adventure. She had a twinkle in her eye and infectious zest for life. She loved to go dancing with her friends and spending time at her local beaches.
Amal married her truest love, Jad Semaan, when she was 19 years old. They fled two civil wars and were able to move to Houston, TX in the 80s. Amal immediately took charge of the childrearing of their 3 young ones and the household management while her doting husband built a successful life for them. As her children grew into teenagers, a few of their friends needed a safe place to land. Jad and Amal opened their home to the mischievous and sometimes naughty teenage boys. Amal never treated them like their reputations may have called for but instead loved them unconditionally. Over the years, her deep love and generous spirit continued through helping anyone who was in need.
Having a great love of cooking, Amal made sure everyone around was always full and happy. She frequently called her grown children to come get the food she made for them. She had a pension for stretching every last dollar. She was skilled at finding deals and taught her children to do so. Never pay full price because most likely she had a coupon for that! She also enjoyed crafts, watching Wheel of Fortune and Friends, fashion, and her family.
It was her zest for life and her deep love for her family that kept the twinkle in her eyes to the very end. As she bravely battled cancer for the second time, she never once gave up.
She is survived by her husband Jad Semaan of Round Rock, TX, mother Saada Harb of Beirut, Lebanon, son Joseph Semaan of Round Rock, TX, daughter Jessica Semaan and grandson Jaylen Guess of Round Rock, TX, son Roy Semaan and wife Rachel of Round Rock, TX, sister Patricia Nahas of Montreal, Canada, and brothers Fadi Harb and Joseph Harb of Portland, Oregon, as well as countless other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who loved her dearly
A funeral service for Amal will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
