Angelo Minardi (Gino), age 91, passed away on May 26, 2024. He was born on July 13, 1932 in Gela, Sicily, Italy to Emanuele and Giuseppa (Maru) Minardi. He moved to the United States at the age of 23 in hopes of building a better life.
In 1958, he met the girl of his dreams Angela Minardi, in Long Island, New York and one year later they were married in Gela, Sicily, Italy. Together they raised five children and built a beautiful life and marriage that lasted 65 years.
Gino worked two jobs and always made sure his family was never without. In 1975 Gino and Angela moved their family to Galveston to open a bakery. They remained in the Galveston area until 1992, when they relocated to Round Rock, Texas to be near their children and open what many people know as Gino's Italian Restaurant. With the restaurant, which has become a well-known place to celebrate life events and enjoy a wonderful meal with family and friends, Gino shared his love of family and excellent food with the community he now called home. Gino never missed a day working at the restaurant, overseeing the kitchen, making fresh bread and pizza dough, until March 2020, when Covid changed the world for so many. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
