Lois Annette Anastasi, 81 years old, passed away quietly with her family by her side Sunday, April 11, 2021, in Seton Hospital Austin, TX. Annette as she was most fondly known was born June 17, 1939, to Harlon Alexander and Edna Mae Copeland in Comfort, TX. Her military family was moving from San Antonio, TX to Arizona when her unexpected arrival caused the family to stop in Comfort, TX. Her unexpected birth marked the beginning of a life filled with spontaneity and joie de vivre.
While married to Jack Day she had two daughters, Vicky Jean Day Constancio and Jacqueline Ann Day May. Years later she married Richard Leo Anastasi who had seven children. Annette became the mother/stepmother of a very large, blended family. She welcomed and loved each of her children. Richard and Annette had one son of their own, Russell Henry Anastasi. Annette worked many years as a data entry operator from Western Electric to billing and coding for a Radiology Associates in San Antonio. After retirement she did what she loved most: traveling, square dancing, and spending time with family. Annette made friends easily and everyone became instant family to her. One of her dearest friends was Charlotte Kintz. Charlotte was Richard Anastasi’s first wife and mother to Annette’s 7 stepchildren. Many people were amazed at this friendship, but it was a true love for each other. They went on cruises together and even lived in the same apartment complex where they shared many day-to-day activities.
Late in life she met another man who would become very important to her, Phil Grace. They laughed together, spent time with family, and traveled. It was nothing for them to just decide let’s go somewhere! So off they went to Pike’s Peak, Las Vegas, California, Dollywood, the coast, or one of their favorite places the Bluegrass Festival in Glen Rose, TX.
Spending time with her grandchildren brought her so much joy. She loved to travel with them, attend their school and dance events, go on outings, and lots of birthday parties!!! She made every get together fun. Her laugh was infectious, and she had a mischievous sense of humor.
Annette was predeceased by her parents, husband Richard, dear friend Charlotte, sister Dolores Dennis, brothers Harlon Alexander (H.A.) Copeland Jr and Glenn Royce Copeland. As well as by her stepdaughters Karen Lewis and Rebecca Anastasi.
Annette is survived by daughters Vicky Constancio, Jackie May and her husband Bobby, son Russell Anastasi and his wife Hang. Also survived by stepdaughters Debby Curcoe and husband Larry, Shelly Menke and husband David Peters, stepsons Rick Anastasi and wife Laura, Jeff Anastasi and wife Freddie. She is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her final wishes were to be cremated and interred with her beloved husband Richard in San Antonio. Arrangements were carried out by Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, TX. The family would like to express our thanks to the compassionate care given by Shannon and Kelsey at Cook-Walden in our time of grief.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX.
