Anselma “Ann” Rodriguez Guajardo, age 90, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, entering into eternal life. She was born on April 21, 1935, in Kyle, Texas.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Julia Rodriguez; her beloved husband, Willie Guajardo; her brothers, Charlie Rodriguez and Alex Rodriguez; her brother-in-law, Adam Guajardo, her sisters-in-law, Minnie Guajardo and Fina Guajardo, and her nephew, Michael Rodriguez.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Kathy Guajardo of Manor, Texas, and Karen Ritch and her husband, Randy of Pflugerville, Texas, and her beloved grandson, Elijah Ritch of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She is also survived by her sister, Dolores Sanchez of Austin, Texas; her brother, LeeRoy Rodriguez (Esther) of Austin, Texas; her sisters-in-law, Tina Galindo, Lynda Jaime, Rita Jonse (John), and Hope Olvera (Snow), all of Manor, Texas and Janell Guajardo of Pflugerville, Texas, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Ann grew up in East Austin and lived there until marrying Willie in 1960. They made their home in Manor, Texas, where she spent the remainder of her life. She enjoyed the simple things in life and was known for her quiet, gentle, and easygoing nature, as well as her strong work ethic.
She began working at the age of 14 at a dry cleaners and continued working faithfully and diligently throughout her life. Over the years, she was employed at Goodfriends, Montgomery Ward, and El Galindo, Inc., retiring at the age of 65. Ann took great pride in maintaining a clean and spotless home and was especially known for neatly folding laundry so it was always ready to wear.
After retirement, Ann and Willie were “joined at the hip,” enjoying life together on their homestead. They became devoted and loving grandparents, providing cherished daycare for their one and only grandson, Elijah, until he entered preschool.
Ann was a steadfast and passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys from the day the team was established, and you could always count on her to be watching whenever they played. She loved all major sports—a passion passed down from her father—and also followed the Boston Celtics, New York Yankees, and Houston Astros.
She enjoyed coloring, playing bingo, watching telenovelas, The Bold and the Beautiful, Wheel of Fortune, and Dancing with the Stars. Ann loved simple comfort foods—tortillas, eggs, bacon, potato chips, and ham sandwiches—and never passed up a sweet treat, whether it was a muffin for breakfast, a cookie at lunch, or a slice of cheesecake for dessert.
A lifelong and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manor, Ann’s faith was the bedrock of her life. She was a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, attended Mass regularly and was deeply devoted to praying the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet each day. In her final years, she often spoke of looking forward to being reunited with her loved ones in eternal life.
During her final years, Ann received loving and devoted care from her two daughters, along with the support of other family members. The family extends its deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Austin Palliative Care and Hospice Austin for their compassionate care and support. Special appreciation is given to nurse practitioner, Brian King for his palliative care in recent years and to nurse, Marisol Balderas for her hospice care in Ann’s final days.
May Anselma “Ann” Rodriguez Guajardo rest in heavenly glory and eternal peace.
