

His life adventure began August 15, 1929 in Cloquet, Minnesota to Finnish immigrants. After high school graduation in 1947, Arnie enlisted in the U. S. Army, stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas. He served proudly with the country’s first guided missile program, resulting in the Red Stone Rocket project. Following his honorable discharge in 1951, Arnie began a 29-year career as an office manager with Conoco in Wrenshall, Minnesota.
Arnie married the love of his life, Barbara Crider, on April 3, 1952. Together, they embarked on life’s greatest joy and raised four children. Throughout his life, Arnie enjoyed and excelled in a many sports. Arnie and Barbara eventually retired to Round Rock, Texas, in 1981. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
Arnie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara; daughter, Julie (Marty) Mundell; three sons, Tony (Jan), Kelly (Judy) and Troy; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Arnie’s life will be held at 3:30 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Military honors and urn placement will follow.
