He graduated from Bastrop High School in 1978. He earned his BS in Biology from Southwest Texas State University (currently Texas State University) and went on to earn his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Texas. He was licensed to practice by the State of Texas on February 28, 1987.
Dr. Jenkins founded Back to Health Chiropractic located on Shoal Creek Boulevard in Austin, TX, where he treated patients for many years before relocating his practice to Bastrop, TX temporarily before his retirement. Despite being a SWTSU alumni, Dr. Jenkins was an avid UT fan and was rarely seen without his UT cap. He was known most for his sense of humor and adoration for his family.
Dr. Jenkins is preceded in death by his parents, George Hershel Jenkins Sr. and Della Jenkins; his brother, George Jenkins Jr.; his nephew, Calvin Jenkins Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Darin Meuth.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his brothers, Calvin Jenkins Sr. and wife Debbie; David Jenkins and wife Sherrie; and his sister, Delena Meuth; along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and patients.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate and honor Dr. Jenkins’ life at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023 in the Longhorn Room at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
