Gary was born on October 11, 1948, in Corning, New York to the late Arthur Carlyle Telford and Helen (Nikula) Telford. Gary was a graduate of Union Endicott High School in Endicott, New York. He retired as a Manager working for IBM in the late 90s. Gary then spent several years working as a Tax Examiner for the IRS.
Gary’s life changed for the better with the births of each Grandchild. Calvin and Carly enriched Gary and Linda’s lives and made every day more special. Gary often said, “the only thing good about growing old is Grandchildren”.
Gary was a caring, loving and truly devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son-in-law, and Friend to so many. He will be forever remembered for his true one of a kind personality that was filled with laughter, sarcasm, honesty, and love. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life including the Washington Redskins, gambling, family vacations, cruising or a quick trip to Las Vegas. Gary enjoyed spending many hours in his backyard sanctuary, relaxing, gardening, and enjoying life.
In addition to Linda, his loving wife of 49 years, Gary is survived by his two Daughters, Kelly Coffee of Austin, Texas and Lisa Telford of Round Rock,Texas, two Grandchildren, Calvin Cruise and Carly Rose Coffee, Mother-in-law, Jill Schiappa, two Brother in laws, Jerry Schiappa & Louis Schiappa, two Nieces, Jenna Witek and Jordan Schiappa, as well as many extended Family members and close Friends. Gary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018, until the time of service at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the same location with Pastor Phil Christenson will be officiating. A reception for family and friends will take place immediately following the service.
