

Barbara Walters Blount, born in Perris, CA, moved to Orange County in 1945 as her husband, flight surgeon Lester Blount, completed his duties with the Army Medical Corps and began decades of medical practice in Santa Ana and later Westminster. Barbara Blount (Bobbe) was known as a gifted elementary school teacher and also as a youth leader in the Santa Ana Seventh-day Adventist Church. She remained deeply involved with her family in whom she took exceptional pride. She lived near her daughter Babs McMaude and son-in-law Gordon in Austin, TX in her last twelve years.
Left to mourn and celebrate her life are daughter, Babs, an interior designer and her husband, Gordon, a mortgage banker; a son, Gary, a psychiatrist, of Woodbury, MN and his wife Lee, a financial planner; and Barbara’s youngest child, John, a dentist in Sebastopol, CA and his wife, Patricia, an office administrator. Barbara is also survived by grandchildren, John McMaude, Michael McMaude, Heather Keas, Todd Kline, Justin Blount, Jennifer Thorn, and Amy Poppinga; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; three brothers, Ben, Tom, and Richard Walters; as well as by granddaughter, Hilary Blount.
Graveside services will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, CA at 1:30 pm, on Sunday, April 1st. “Blessed are those who die in the Lord.”
