Barbara Cecilia (Crider) Heikkila was born to the late Roland and Cecilia (Herbst) Crider in Sandstone, Minnesota on November 27, 1933 and entered into her eternal rest in Round Rock, Texas on November 19, 2018.
Barbara grew up on a small farm in northern Minnesota. She had 4 brothers: Grant, Rollie, Wayne, and Brian (who died in infancy) and 2 sisters: Ivy and Kathy. Barbara was the third youngest of the Crider family. Her maternal grandmother, Julia Herbst, also lived on the farm with the family.
Barbara married Arnold Heikkila on April 3, 1952. They were married for nearly 60 years and raised four children together in Cloquet, Minnesota. She was devoted to her family above all else and found complete joy and satisfaction in staying home to raise her children and run the household. She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, gardening, baking, bicycling, and picking wild blueberries in the summer.
Mom and Dad eventually relocated to Round Rock, Texas in 1981, to escape the harsh northern winters. Over the years, they were blessed with 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, and her husband, who passed away on Dec 29, 2011.
She is survived by her children: Tony Heikkila (Jan), Kelly Heikkila (Judy), Julie Mundell (Marty) and Troy Heikkila; her grandchildren: Cory Heikkila (Tiffany), Carolyn Liles (Josh), Sheena Heikkila, Erin Hyatt (Craig), and Justin Mundell (Chelsea); and great-grandchildren: Presley, Madeline, Kenley, and Berklie.
