Becky Mills

Becky Mills, 84, passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, October 20, 2013. She was prepared to meet her Heavenly Father and meet up again with her beloved husband and many friends that have passed before her. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for many years and most recently, struggled with Leukemia. Her body was weak however her mind was so strong to her last breath.

Becky was surrounded by love and touched the lives of so many people in her lifetime. She moved to Austin from Mt. Airy, North Carolina, with her family in her early childhood. She graduated from Austin High School, married Marvin Dale Mills on June 12, 1948, and they raised their 3 children in Austin. Becky was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and an avid participant in her Circle at the Church. She enjoyed helping others, volunteering in the PTA, Girl Scouts, working as a Precinct Voting Chairperson for many years in the Allandale neighborhood and spent countless hours caring for her grandchildren. She loved to travel and was fortunate to see many places. Port Aransas was one of her favorite destinations. She loved to bake, garden, gather with friends, play dominoes, spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and had a passion and amazing talent for sewing and quilting.

Becky is preceded in death by her parents, Roger P. Allred & Emma Clark Allred, 2 brothers and her husband, Marvin Dale Mills. She is survived by children, Sandra Lott and her husband, David; Bruce Mills and wife Judy; and Charlotte Mills-Hair. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Megan Lott-Wesley, Rachel Lott-Miller, Steve Mills, David Mills, Morgan Hair and Kendall Hair. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.

The family is thankful to all the many caretakers and doctors who provided her such loving care, especially Dr. Hoverman, Susan, Joy, Darlene, Glenda and Dee.

Graveside services celebrating her life will be held at 3:30 pm, Thursday, October 24, at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks in Pflugerville with a reception immediately following.
