The family of Ben P. Davis is grateful for his long and adventurous life. Born in 1927 in Minden, LA to Elizabeth Strange and Benjamin Polk Davis, he left this life on July 23rd in Austin, Texas. Ben was husband to the love of his life Wilma Francis Arney Davis (1934-2005), father of Sharon L. Davis of Houston, Christopher Davis (Gaile Bryan) of San Marcos and Benjamin M. Davis (Carol Davis and daughter Nicole Vinton) of Austin, grandfather to Elizabeth Davis Boutin (Ben) of Austin, four great-grandsons, sister-in-law Edna Kizziar (Don) and family of Terrell, Texas.
Ben was a WWII vet who loved trains, geology, history, books, technology, rockets/planes, football and bbq. He spent time spelunking through the western US as a young man, attended LSU and SMU, and worked at NASA in the 60s where he contributed to our nation’s nascent space program. He also spent a long career with IBM. He was wise, kind, and a bit of a rascal.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Texas School for the Blind and Visually impaired at 1100 W. 45th Street, Austin, Tx 78756.
