Mrs. Betty Jean Glaab, of Pflugerville, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2020. She was 82.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on May 21, 1938, Betty was the daughter of S. Geraldine (Granstaff) Ehlert and Joseph Edward Ehlert. Her parents preceded her in death.
On December 22, 1953, Betty married the love of her life, Paul E. Glaab. Betty was able to stay at home to raise their children. Betty and Paul loved to travel during their retirement years and had close friends in south Texas where they spent the cooler months and also in the northern states where they traveled during the warmer summer months. Betty had a passion for television, watching the New York Rangers, and playing cards and games with family and friends. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She was a devout member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Austin for many years. Betty was a wonderful mother, a beloved grandmother, and a good friend to many people. She will be missed.
Betty is survived by her husband of over 66 years, Paul; her children, Deborah K. Melzer, Richard E. Glaab and Steven R. Glaab; grandchildren, Justin Glaab, Jessica Glaab, Jeremy Glaab, Tiffany Melzer, Kari Melzer, Amy Carpentier, Kristi Glaab, and Ryan Glaab; along with 18 beloved great-grandchildren. Her brother, Raymond Ehlert, also survives her along with other relatives and dear friends.
A brief visitation for friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2020, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 12041 Bittern Hollow, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
Honoring Betty as pallbearers will be Jeremy Glaab, Justin Glaab, Ryan Glaab, David Campos, John Ellis and David Sanderson.
Due to the current COVID protocols, guests are required to wear protective facial masks at all times and practice the recommended six foot social distancing while attending the visitation at the funeral home and services at the church.
