Betty Joan Nelson

Betty Joan Nelson, age 79, passed away on January 25, 2012. She was born on July 25, 1932 to Walter Dillon Greene and Minnie Louise (Stahl) Greene in Kingsville, Texas. Betty was a resident of Grapeland for the last 15 years. She moved to Grapeland after residing in Ingleside for 29 years. She and her husband recently moved to Pflugerville to be closer to their daughter, Linda.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce L. Nelson, Sr. of Pflugerville; daughter, Linda Nelson of Pflugerville; daughter, Lisa and husband Mike Yaklin of Coppell; son, Bud and wife Susan Nelson of New Baden; brother, Walter D. Greene, Jr. of Houston; and sister, Carole Kennedy of Canyon Lake. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Zachary and wife Kerri Ballard, Travis and wife Kristen Ballard, Lindsey and husband Andy Marks, Ryan Yaklin, Maddie Nelson, and Abbie Nelson and four great-grandchildren, Kaden Ballard, Trevor Ballard, Georgia Marks, and Willa Ballard.

A memorial service for Betty will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012.
