

Beverly Frances “Boots” Gilbert, age 74, a longtime resident of Austin passed away on November 3, 2012 at St. David’s Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born on August 10, 1938 in San Antonio, moving to Austin at the age of 4. She retired many years ago as secretary of Austin Vacuum, the iconic Austin business founded by her father. The business is still in operation and owned by her son, Bill. She also enjoyed the time she worked at Garden Ridge & American Greeting Cards, plus her crafts and sharing her many talents with others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father, William Christian Ebert and mother, Melva Coe Barnes Ebert; by her niece, Linda Flynn and by her infant great-grandson, Jameson Alexander Gilbert. Boots is survived by her children; daughter, Judy Chapla and her husband, Chris of Murphy, TX; son, Kenneth Gilbert and his wife, Barbara of Spicewood, TX; son, William Gilbert and his wife, Judy of Pflugerville; her sister, Patricia “Pat” Twist and her husband, George of Cibolo and her grandchildren; Pamela High and her husband, Buck; Benjamin Gilbert and his wife, Meghan; Krystal Gilbert, Timothy Gilbert, Lauren Gilbert, Brandon Gilbert and Lindsey Gilbert; two great-grandchildren, Nicole and Chap High; beloved nieces, Wanda Dole; Vicky Contreras and husband, Randy; grand nephews, Clifford Dole and Robert Dole; and many cherished friends, especially Jeanne Johnson, Barbara McCasland, Robin White and Richard Mahn.
The family extends sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. David’s Hospital, especially the talented hands of Dr. Fox and special-care nurse, Dillon.
A gathering to celebrate Boots’ life will be held at 3:30 on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
