Brandi Leigh Boyd was born in Austin, Texas on March 17, 1976, St. Patrick’s Day, to Mike and Debi Boyd. As an only child, she was a Daddy’s girl who was loved and spoiled beyond measure! Ten years later the family moved to Georgetown, Texas.
Schoolwork was a breeze for Brandi. She scored 158 on an IQ test. After graduating from Georgetown High School in 1994, she attended University Of North Texas in Denton for 2 years. She transferred to Concordia University at Austin where she was elected a member of Alpha Chi, National College Honor Scholarship Society and awarded the Degree of Bachelor of Arts Multidisciplinary, Summa Cum Laude in May, 1999. Shortly after, she received her Texas Teacher Certificate in Secondary English and Secondary Speech Communications (Grades 6-12).
Brandi began teaching and coaching Speech and Debate students at McNeil High School in Round Rock. She purchased her home in Pflugerville and taught at Pflugerville High for a few years before returning to Round Rock ISD at Stony Point High School. She LOVED coaching and traveling to Local, State and National Tournaments with her competitive ‘Kiddos’. Brandi’s dedication and mentorship contributed to so many of her students growing into very successful adults in a wide variety of careers; they have stayed in touch with her, becoming cherished, lifelong friends.
Brandi was forced to take medical retirement in 2008, after developing Polycystic Kidney Disease. She became a Dialysis Warrior and managed on her own for several years, but as her conditions grew worse, she was forced to move back to Georgetown with her parents for care and support.
From a very young age, Brandi was an avid reader of most genres, a writer and poet, a cinema enthusiast and live production devotee with annual season tickets to Broadway in Austin. She was a self-proclaimed pop culture geek and a sports fanatic, specifically for her beloved Chicago Cubs, tennis (Roger Federer) and football (Peyton and the other Mannings). She is well-known for her witty, animosity toward squirrels. Brandi collected pressed pennies from where-ever she could find a machine. She was ecstatic when family and friends thought about her in their travels and brought her pennies from their adventures.
Disney World was Brandi’s happy place. She loved all things Disney, with a special kinship to the Villains. Fortunately, she had friends, sisters and brothers by choice, who were almost as enthusiastic about taking vacations to Disney with her! Brandi was consumed with the Frank L. Baum, Wizard of Oz Books, movies, spin-offs, trivia and memorabilia. She could not wait to see the second Wicked movie or experience the Wizard of Oz in the Las Vegas Sphere; Both planned, but unattended.
December 3rd, 2025, Brandi woke with severe pain. She was admitted to St David’s-RR ER, then rushed into the OR with a 50/50 chance of survival. The operation was deemed successful with cautious optimism. Complications of 16 years on dialysis that was failing, along with other medical issues, prevented her frail body from healing properly. After courageously fighting for 16 days in the ICU, she transitioned into the care of Heart to Heart Hospice while remaining in the hospital under heavy sedation. Many friends, family and ex-students visited, called or texted. After listening to Dad’s words of comfort and love, at 3:04 am, December 21st, 2025, Mom holding her hand, she peacefully passed.
