Calvin Dee Bruce

Calvin was born on October 27, 1932, in Denison, Texas, to Zelma Quinten Bruce and Fitzhugh Lee Bruce, where he was born and raised. He had seven siblings: Dorothy, Bill, Jack, Carlis, Paul, Jim Bob, and MaryAnn. He grew up with strong values of faith, family, hard work, and service—values that guided him throughout his life.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Calvin served his country as an aircraft mechanic. His dedication to service continued throughout his civilian career when he relocated to San Antonio, Texas, and worked as a civil servant with the Electronic Security Command at Kelly Air Force Base.

Calvin was first married to Martha Pierce, and together they welcomed two children. Their time together was cut tragically short when Martha passed away at the young age of 32. Later, Calvin found love again when he married Vivian Tucker. Through their nearly 52 years of marriage, he lovingly embraced her three sons as his own, creating a blended family bound together by love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

Calvin is survived by his beloved wife, Vivian Bruce; his children, Craig Bruce and wife Lisa, Nonnie Hamer-Burrows, Randy Tucker and wife Lynn, Gary Tucker and wife Sue, and Chris Tucker.

He was a proud grandfather to Ember Tucker, Robin Knippel, Marshall Tucker, Garrett Tucker, Ashley Hamer, Zach Tucker, and Callen Tucker. Great-grandfather to Cody Seymour, Isaac Lango, Madison Knippel, and Calvin Knippel. Calvin also has 7 wonderful great-great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother, Carlis Bruce, and wife Pat; nephew Butch Baker and wife Sue; along with numerous extended family members and cherished friends.

Calvin never met a stranger. He had the biggest heart, and anyone who knew him couldn’t help but love him. He found joy in the simple things in life—cooking for those he loved, tinkering in the yard, telling jokes that made everyone smile, and relaxing with old Western movies. He was an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns, the Dallas Cowboys, and the San Antonio Spurs, cheering faithfully through every season.

Above all, Calvin loved God, his wife, and his family. His warm spirit, contagious smile, gentle nature, and generous heart touched countless lives. He was a big man with an even bigger heart, always ready with a helping hand, a kind word, or a joke to brighten someone’s day.

While his family mourns his passing, they rejoice in knowing he leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, faith, and compassion. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Calvin will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

A Funeral Service will be held at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, 5805 Texoma Pkwy, Sherman, TX 75090, US, on August 5, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
