Carl Wayne Woehl of Jarrell, Texas, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, surrounded by family, after a hard-fought battle with cancer at the age of 83. He was born on January 17, 1943, in Paola, Kansas. He grew up in Kansas City with his aunt, uncle, and brother Mike.
After graduating from West Port High School in Kansas City, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1961. He married his soul mate, Janet Erwin of Chula Vista, California, in 1964. In 1966, they welcomed their first daughter, Tammy, and then their second daughter, Keri, in 1970.
He worked at Texas Instruments in Dallas and Austin for over 25 years and moonlighted working on cars until he started Car-l’s Personal Automotive in Round Rock. After “retiring”, Carl and Janet moved to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, on Beaver Lake for 20 years. They returned to Texas in 2019 to be closer to family.
He was a member of the Mustang Owners Club of Austin; he was passionate about building race-car engines and drag racing; he created the water distribution design for their small neighborhood in Arkansas; and he entertained his 4 grandchildren each summer with boating and fishing.
Carl is preceded in death by his father, Carl William Woehl; mother, Jean Barta Woehl; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his bride of 62 years, Janet Woehl; his brother, Mike Woehl; sister-in-law, Sandra Shockey; cousin Jean Reynolds; daughter Tammy Oshel and her husband John Oshel; daughter, Keri Woehl; grandchildren, John and his fiancé Destiny, Shaun and his wife Olivia, Juliana, and Kylee; nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends who will miss his steady advice and open door.
Carl was best known affectionately as “Google” to those who came seeking answers, and he devoted his time and tools to anyone in need. He was a beloved husband, brother, dad, grandpa, and small grandpa.
A celebration of Carl’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Hope Fellowship Church, 11251 S IH-35, Jarrell, TX 76537 (near Starbucks and Stockyard Coffee).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Carl by donating to an organization of your choice.
