Frank was enjoying independent living at The Renaissance Senior Living where he was able to partake in his favorite activities: watching deer, numerous sports, the friendly environment, and playing dominos and cards.
Frank was born in Lexington, Texas on July 10, 1926. His parents were Robert Elijah Boyd (1890-1966) and Margaret Maud Thomas (Maggie) (1897-1983). He had three younger siblings, Mallie Maud Boyd, Naomi Ruth Boyd, and Earl E. Boyd. He grew up in Lexington and finished High School just as World War II was beginning. He worked in Houston, enlisted in the Army at age 18, and was assigned to Paso Robles, California. He continued service in the Air Force Reserves at Bergstrom AFB during the Korean War.
On July 10, 1948, Frank married Dorothy Lucille Andrewartha Davis at the First Baptist Church in Elgin, Texas. They lived in Austin, Texas and both completed degrees at the University of Texas. Frank and Dorothy had two children, Sandra and Russell. He enjoyed deep-sea fishing, deer hunting, and joking around with friends and family. He had a happy sparkle and fondness for Country Western Music.
Frank worked at the Industrial Accident Board, Texas Governor’s Office of Comprehensive Health Planning, and the Texas Legislative Budget Board. He and Dorothy moved to San Marcos, Texas in 1965 for Dorothy’s work at Texas State University, formerly named Southwest Texas State. Their children graduated from San Marcos High School and SWT.
Frank was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed attending regularly until 2018 when he moved. He especially enjoyed participating in the Men’s Sunday School Class for many years.
Frank is survived by his sister, Mallie Maud Coker, and his children, Sandra Kay Boyd Norris of Seattle and Russell Franklin Boyd of Austin. His grandchildren include Jeremy Norris, Zachary Norris, and Abbey Norris plus six great-grandchildren.
