Chuck was born on March 17, 1939 to the late Freeman and Clara Millard. After graduating from Harveysburg High School in 1957, he decided to join the military. But little did he know he would meet the woman of his dreams at the Playland skating rink in Austin. Chuck married Sara Lou on June 4, 1960 after joining the U.S. Air Force. They had three children, Matthew, Mark and David.
While in the Air Force, Chuck held multiple programming positions, supervised Computer Operations and was an Air Craft Crew Chief. He served in the Vietnam War and was stationed in California, Mississippi, Kansas, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas and Iceland. After a successful 20-year military career, Chuck retired and moved his family to Round Rock, Texas.
Following military retirement, Chuck realized he still had the desire to work. He worked in the Banking industry for a few years and wanted an opportunity to work outdoors, installing and repairing fuel systems. With the changing economy, he started employment with the U.S. Post Office. As a route delivery postman, he came to know a lot of his route neighbors. You know he was loved when his route neighbors always showered him with gifts during the holidays and his birthday. Chuck retired from the Post Office after 15 years.
Chuck loved coaching baseball while his three son’s were growing up. He was very active in several bowling leagues until his love of fishing took over. He always looked for any opportunity to hop on the boat and hit the lake. In his spare time, he loved to read books, work cross-word puzzles and see how long it would take him to complete jigsaw puzzles.
Chuck enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Michael and Jaeson. And, when his great-granddaughter, Zoey arrived, he was thrilled. He loved being around family.
Chuck professed his life to Christ and joined the Round Rock Central Baptist Church. He cherished praising the Lord and always enjoyed helping others until his health prevented his services. He was a loving and caring person, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is predeceased by his parents, his son, Mark and brothers, Henry and Jimmy. He is survived by his wife, Sara Lou Millard; his sister, Joan Crowe; his children, Matthew and David Millard; his daughter-in-law, Diana Millard; his grandchildren, Michael and Jaeson Millard; his great-granddaughter, Zoey Millard and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
