Charlotte “Chocky” O’Hagan Wynn peacefully departed this earth April 21, 2018 in Austin. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Roger Wynn, children Steve Wynn and Genny Wynn Williams, by her parents, Charlie and Genevieve O’Hagan and sisters Margie McGregor and Jerry O’Hagan.
Chocky was born April 20, 1930 in Sherman, Texas. Her four grandparents were all Irish born 19th century immigrants to Grayson County and she was fiercely proud of her Irish ancestry. She married Palestine-born Roger Wynn in 1948, while he was a student at Austin College in Sherman. By 1951, they had settled in Beaumont, Texas, where they spent the next five decades raising a large family. Like many women of her generation, she could have succeeded in any career, and chose that of dedicated housewife and mother, carrying out her parental responsibilities with love, discipline and without complaint. She was intensely devoted to and proud of her family and very involved in her children’s educational and sports pursuits, including PTA leadership at French Elementary in Beaumont and keeping meticulous scrapbooks to document all of the educational milestones and achievements of her offspring. She and Roger spent the last years of their retirement life together living in Round Rock surrounded by loving family.
Chocky Wynn is survived by five sons, John Wynn of Round Rock, Dick Wynn of Round Rock, Ralph Wynn of New York City, Will Wynn of Austin and Allen Wynn of The Woodlands; by daughters-in-law Judith Wynn and Julie Snodgrass of Round Rock and Christy Wynn of the Woodlands and by son-in-law Kanani Mahelona of New York City. She is also survived by her only nephew, Mark McGregor and his wife Marilyn of Fallbrook, California.
