Clifton “Gene” Eugene Coward Sr. passed away at the age of 87 in Round Rock, Texas on July 10, 2020. Services will be held at Cook Walden Funeral Home Pflugerville on July 15, 2020 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Cook Walden Memorial Park.
Gene was born in Cameron, Texas on February 7, 1933. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas. He then graduated from UT Arlington with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. He was a chemist for the Texas Department of Transportation for 31 years. At the age of 19 Gene came down with Polio and being the determined young man that he was, he was able to overcome it. He loved gardening, he usually had a beautiful vegetable garden, he also grew beautiful flowers. He loved the outdoors; camping, fishing, picking up pecans and many other activities. One of the other things he liked to do was work on cars, until they started going digital. He will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, being smart, and loving all of us, but he really loved his grandkids.
Gene is survived by his wife of 62 years Margaret Weir Coward, his children: Sandra and Larry Uhrig, Laura and Robert Morrow, Pamela & David Emshoff, and Cliff and Joy Coward. His grandchildren: Stephanie and Chad Creech, Brandon Emshoff, Joshua Morrow, Haylee Coward, Scott Coward, Ashley and Shawn Wilson, and Wyatt Aman. Great grandchildren: Quinn Creech, Peyton Creech, Tyler Wilson, Ryker Wilson, and Harper Wilson.
