Papa,
   It's been a few days since your memorial and like everyone else that loved you very much you are still on my mind. I tried to keep my composure at the memorial but had difficulty doing so. It isn't that I am worried about you Papa. It was a flood of memories too numerous to mention here. I think what really got me was that there wouldn't be any new memories of our time together. At least not while I am here on the earth. I feel blessed that I got to spend as much time with you while I did have you here but I will always wish it was just one more.  One more game of golf, one more time to hunt deer, one more time to see you smile that devious smile after you make a joke, one more jeep ride, one more time to hold your hand, one more time riding the horses, one more time helping you mend or build fences, one more time to hug you, and one more time to tell you I love you very much. I can't wait till the day I get to see you again. What a glorious day that will be. Just do me a favor, when I get there make sure we have a good tee time for the course up there if they have one. I hope like you I will need only one ball. And if the good lord needs a fence taken care of we'll knock that out for him too. I love you and will miss you Papa.

I'm writing this the Monday after your Memorial service. I know you see me and I want you to know that I've never seen a more beautiful spiritual service in my life. You always wondered if there would be many people there to remember you and I can tell you now that there was. You were remembered as the man you were. It was a beautifl tribute to you. You knew how much I loved you and that is important to me because I really was daddy's little girl. That's how I felt everytime I came in the door. You always made me feel loved and cherished. Say hello to all those that we love there. Enjoy the sights that mom always told you about. It's even better than she described, isn't it? I love you daddy. You know I'm going to watch over mother until her time comes to meet you. I miss you so very much.

Clyde & Connie, a LOVE STORY: My Mom & Dad shared a love that was really special. 68 + years through many trials and tribulations, raising 4 kids and living through all of our issues. Ups and downs of life that we all face but not all are able to overcome. My Mom & dad were fighters and fought for their marriage overcoming all obstacles, they still loved each other with the passion of youth until the end. They are a testimony and an example to us all of what perseverance through the trials of life, what being able to forgive each others transgressions and thoughtless, selfish actions and as importantly being able to say I'm sorry and seek forgiveness for the stupid sometimes thoughtless things we do or say can do to build the bonds of love between two people so that they spend their entire lives together and wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Mom and Dad were each others life long loves and may have never loved each other greater than at the last days of Dads life. One of the last times I was with my Dad when he could talk I watched as they held hands, their eyes focused on each others eyes for a long time. My dad looking at her with so much love you could feel it in the room, he said to her, "You are as beautiful as the day I first saw you." Mom said to him, "Clyde, you are as handsome as you were when I first saw you." Then holding hands they stared lovingly into each others eyes before they shared a loving kiss. I can't help but believe that as they stared in each others eyes that each saw the other through younger eyes and hearts full of love as they did that first time they shared their look some 68+ years ago. They had been a love at first sight love affair and their kiss at 90 & 85 had the same passion as the kiss in the accompaning picture. It was just plain beautiful. It is the kind of love many would love to have and it has not died in my mom even with dads death. Thank You Lord for the incredible example of love they have been. We should all be so fortunate as to have that same kind of relationship. Amen !!!

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Johnson.   I can recall the many memories that our families spent together when growing up in the Cele area or (Pflugerville).  I remember the days when we (the kids) had gone to school together and growing up together in the country.  Our parents along with Mr. & Mrs. Johnson had been the best of friends for so many years and I'm glad that we got to enjoy the friendship together for all those years. sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Johnson. His name came up  many times during the past 50 years amoung of mutual friends. The Mott family always had a great respect for him, his service and his family.  I thank for the times he talked to me and the support he gave to the Pflugerville Panthers. My dad loved his time as a Rancher. God gave him a small but beautiful place east of Lampasas, TX for about 15 years of his life. Those 15 years were the growing up years for his grandkids and he and my mom were always available to their grandchildren and always excited about taking them for the weekend. Papa and Grannie as they were called by my 5 made some of their grand children's best memories on that Ranch. Not a one of them have failed to let them know what great grandparents they were, grannie made them special pancakes in the shape of animals or the letters of their names, read to them, sung to them and played with them. My Dad, Papa would take them on fun Jeep rides, front end loader rides, fishing with them and when they got old enough each one hunted for their first time at their Papa's ranch. Most bagging their first deer on Papa's ranch. No visit was over until they'd taken that Jeep ride over Papa's ranch. 

 Papa & Grannies swimming hole was their favorite place to swim ever and exploring his ranch provided some great thrills. Every trip to Papa and Grannies was a treat and they never had to be talked into going, they were ready whenever. Dad you were one great grandpa and I think everyone of your grandchildren will be there for your services. You were loved more than you know and will be missed by all. Thanks for those wonderful years on the Ranch and previous to that the Lake house. Christmases were always best at your house as you and mom were incredible. You have left a legacy that we your children will find hard to compare too. Thanks for the memories, the love and all that you and mom have done. We all love you very much and now our Lord has you but we will soon join you for a huge family reunion in heaven. Thanks Dad for the Memories. Your eldest son Danny

So sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad but know there is a celebration in Heaven.  When we lose loved ones that places a void in our hearts that only God Himself can fill.  May God continue to bless your sweet Family.

Our Grandfather, Papa, was the kind of grandfather every kid should have.  I feel blessed to have had him in my life for almost 43 years.  He also knew my children and they knew him.  

Growing up I learned a lot from him about being an outdoorsmen and how to take care of my place as far as animals and mending or building fence.  When I had questions about something to do with my animals, I could call him and he would help me with the question.  The ranch was a place we all were blessed to have a chance to visit and each of us grand kids enjoyed knowing we were headed there to spend time with Papa and Grannie, Or MeeMaw, or Grandma.  For our family she is Grannie.

Papa was always cooperative to our jeep rides and saddling the horses.  I like to think he enjoyed giving them as much as we all loved getting them.  He even put up with us destroying his hay barn when we built our hay forts.  Thinking back now and having a hay barn of my own, I would have been ready to kill someone for doing what we did.  Thank God Papa loved us!

Papa was a HUGE Dallas Cowboy fan and he told us years ago he was going to hang on until the Cowboys won another Super Bowl.  We all secretly prayed the Cowboys would suck forever so he would be here forever.  The Cowboys have been trying to do their part and unfortunately Papa didn't get to see his last Cowboy Super Bowl. 

My wish is that all children could have grandparents that loved them as much as Papa and Grannie have loved us.

Papa, I will miss you while I am here on earth but I know I will see you again someday and we will all be together for eternity.  Thank you Grannie for never giving up on your prayers for his relationship with Jesus.

I Never got to meet Mr. Johnson, But I do know he raised a Great Son, and I thank Him for His service to Our Country. I Know God is waitng with open arms to welcome Him to Heaven. Another Great Man and Brother going Home. He will Allways be with us, in thoughts and Prayers. God Bless Him and His Wife.

Jesus, Lord I awoke this morning, looked at my clock, it was a couple of minutes after 5 AM. Seeing that I realized that it was almost exactly one week since my Dad drew his last breath here on earth and found himself in your eternal and glorious presence. One week in eternity with the one who had paid the heavy price upon the Cross of Calvary, taking my Dads sins, mine and yours upon Himself that tragic and Glorious day. You died that day Lord in our place shedding your precious blood so that we might be ransomed, set free of our sin debt to God when we trusted in what You Lord did for us on Calvary. But wonderfully Lord it did not end there that day for but three days later You arose from the dead in your new eternal body that will never again die, corrupt or age. And with Your resurrection Lord you further provided us Lord with the undeserved opportunity to also share eternal life with You our Lord. In 2001 my Dad gave his heart and life to Jesus, he put his trust in You and he that wonderful day received pardon for all of his sin and was justified, redeemed and saved to new life with Jesus Christ our Lord. You Lord showered him and all who trust and believe in you with Your Amazing Grace and Mercy and my Dad and I and all who are Saved with the Gift of eternal Life.

Lord, as I sit here this morning just a bit more than one week after I saw my Dad draw his final breathe and drift into the arms of his Savior. Though sad for his loss I rejoice in knowing that he, my earthly father is now safely in the arms of our Heavenly Father no longer old, frail or hurting but today and forever more in his own new glorified and eternal body forever more to dwell with his God in Glory. 

So though sad at his loss for he was an incredible Dad and I loved him dearly and knowing that he will be greatly missed I am so happy to know that he is with not only his Lord but also loved ones who have gone before him. A grand reunion that I look forward to joining when my work on earth is done. Thank You Jesus for taking my place on that Cross for shedding Your Precious Blood in my place and for providing a wretch like me with your Grace, Mercy and Love. Dad, we who love you and know the Lord Jesus as Lord and Savior will soon enough join you in Glory with the Jesus you now have seen and now fully understanding why your dear wife, my sweet Mom spent 50 years on her knees asking God, no pleading with God to save you. Your salvation Dad came because the woman you loved for 68+ years loved you so much that she faithfully prayed for your salvation. 

Thank you dad for marrying our mom and giving to us your children and grandchildren the very best father & mother, grandfather and grandmother that we could have possibly had. We give to You Lord all of the Honor and all of the Glory. Amen

I feel so blessed that I was able to visit Uncle Clyde and all of his family these past ten years. My parents, Lloyd and Betty O'Brien traveled to Texas every year. They had so much fun when they went. Uncle Clyde always made me laugh. He was a sweet man with a quick wit. I saw him the first week of October and he told me I needed to find myself a tall Texan and move to Texas. We will surely miss him. Love to all of his family. God is with you. We were so sorry to see Clyde's obit in Sunday's paper.  My husband, V G Carlson, is the son of Dixie and Victor Carlson.  Dixie and Selma were sisters, and we visited Selma and C. O. in Austin...many years ago.  V. G. (he's known as Gus in Austin) is 83 years old, not in very good health.  He's takes dialysis 3 days a week.  His brother Chester still lives in Waco, at home, but not well either.  He's mostly bedridden, but his wife Florence takes care of him.  He's 95.  I regret we haven't kept in touch over the years.  I remember Connie more than Clyde and thought they lived south of Rice Crossing.  Again, our condolences.

Dad you truly were a good man always worked hard and very talented. And it was because of you that all us boys learned a craft that has made us good livings all our lives. You taught us to take great pride in all we do. I am greatful to GOD for giving us a dad like you. We are so blessed to have had you for as long as we did. My dad was a very special father. A man who was late into his 70's before he found Christ as Savior and yet a man who had so many qualities that God expects of a father. He taught us honesty and integrity in our business life. I never saw him intentionally cheat a customer. It was his teaching to me and his other children to do every job for others with the same care as we'd do it for ourselves. He was a hard worker who would do anything and work any amount he had to keep his family fed and with a roof over us. He loved our Mom as he loved us with enthusiasm and as completely. Never did any of us feel unloved. He loved his grandchildren with the same kind of passion and gave everything he could to show them he did. My dad was a dad, a dad to be proud of, to immolate and a man who made his wife, his children and his grandchildren proud. He is with God now but he will reside in the hearts of his wife, children and his grandchildren's memories as long as we shall live. I cherish his memory's and his life. A man of character, wisdom and a man who knew how to love. He was my Dad and I am so happy he was. I will be happy when I see him again in Glory, healthy and radiant with the love of his Savior and mine, Christ Jesus. I salute you Dad. You were a man who truly deserved our love and respect. Dad, I love you with all my heart and I always will. GBU in heaven until we join you there. Your eldest son, Danny Joe who owes you more than I could have ever repaid.

Mom and all of your children and grandchildren will miss you greatly Dad. I feel so blessed to have had you for my father in law. You are the Daddy I wish I could have had growing up. Dad you were a wonderful father in law that I love very much. You were a wonderful father and husband to Mom and your four wonderful children and Grandchildren as well as great grandchildren.
