Her contributions to this world will be measured in Love. She loved her family, her friends, and complete strangers. Generous beyond measure, she knew the Lord Jesus and taught others to do the same. At present, she was teaching the Toddlers Bible Class at church and sharing the Gospel with adults as well, 628 past and present students around the globe, as a teacher for World Bible School.
In profession, she owned a beauty shop in early years and later a convenience store with her husband. After being widowed, she enjoyed caring for people as a home health aide to Hospice patients and went to college.
In love, she hosted holiday parties and activities for adult residents of the Abilene State School and was a legal advocate for a resident there, and also nurtured preschoolers as a “Granny” for the Foster Grandparents Program in Abilene School District classrooms, to name a few.
She was known for growing people and plants prolifically – shoring up the frail, guiding the bent, gently pruning the strong, and nourishing all. Every child in sight was important. Apart from people and gardening, her interests were reading, collecting antiques, and any type of sewing and needlework.
Her surviving family members include daughter Julia Castaneda; daughter Alicia Castaneda; daughter Ana Freeman and her husband, Michael; daughter Consuelo Cotterell; daughter Kathy Wilson and her husband, Bill; son John Johnson; grandson Robert Atilano; granddaughter Christina Robinson; grandson John Freeman; granddaughter Kimberly Lewis and her husband, Kevin; granddaughter Jessica Freeman; granddaughter Stephanie Birmingham and her husband, Matt; grandson Noble Wilson; granddaughter Joy Wilson; grandson Roger Johnson; granddaughter Jennifer Smith and her husband, Jon; granddaughter Rachel Johnson; great-grandson Christian Gibson; great-granddaughter Summerlyn Robinson; great-grandson Alex Freeman; great-grandson Jaden Freeman; great-granddaughter Jasmin Freeman; great-grandson Brayden Birmingham; great-granddaughter Zoey Lewis; brother Harvey Munis and his wife, Maureen; brother Harold Munis and his wife, Vencia; sister Norma Gil; sister-in-law Elena Munis; and a multitude of beloved nieces and nephews.
