

David graduated from Levelland High School in 1950. In 1953 he was inducted into the Army and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was honorably discharged in 1955 as a Sergeant.
David returned to school and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1960 and a Masters of Education degree in 1963. His career continued in school administration, teaching and student counseling. He retired in 1991 from Taylor ISD as a High School Counselor.
David followed the Christian faith throughout his life; he truly loved Jesus his Lord and Savior. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Round Rock. David was very talented at his hobby woodworking, he enjoyed traveling with Shirley, reading Louie L’Amour novels, playing with his dogs and he loved telling jokes around a camp fire or at the neighborhood coffee shop.
David loved his family and friends; he is survived by his wife Shirley, daughters Dee Jones and husband Mike of Azle, Texas, and Debbie Bates of Belton, Texas, his grandchildren: Jacob Jones, Andy Jones and Brian David Adams, and his great-grandson Grey Jones, his sister Elizabeth of Shallowater, Texas and Bobbie Kerbo of Willis, Oklahoma, Bryan Fareny of Georgetown, Texas, Brent Farney of Boerne, Texas and Susan Vandelock of Pflugerville, Texas along with six step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
David is the only boy in a family of five girls, his sisters Jean, Jane and Ann preceded him in death.
A visitation will be held from 2:00p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Cook-Walden Capital/Parks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will start at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden Capital/Parks Funeral Home.
