David Lowell Estlack passed away at the age of 76 on March 23, 2022, in Round Rock, Texas of liver failure due to a carcinoid cancer. He was born August 9, 1945, to Eugene Hodges Estlack and Helen Monica (Smith) Estlack, in Austin, Texas. He grew up in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1963. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Texas State University. David worked for the Texas Department of Health in Seafood Safety for 28 years, retiring in July 1998.
On September 3, 1966, David and his childhood sweetheart, Marilyn Kaye Daniels, were married by Elder Jasper Chambers at the Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church in Austin, Tx. While living in Victoria, their first daughter, Dawn Marie, was born. They moved to Texas City for seven years where their second daughter, Amy Jill, was born. David’s job then moved them to Corpus Christi for eight years and the family enjoyed attending the Corpus Christi Primitive Baptist Church. David joined the Corpus Christi Church in September 1978 being baptized by Elder Bill Walden and then was ordained a deacon in May of 1980. The family settled in Round Rock in 1983 and moved their membership to Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church in 1985. David served Little Vine as church clerk for 3 years and as treasurer for 38 years.
He enjoyed golfing and motorcycle riding with his sons-in-law and sending “grand”dad jokes to the grandkids. David collected old coins and loved putting them in keepsake books for the grandkids. And always on the top of his list was attempting to sneak at least one bowl of ice cream a day past Marilyn.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Estlack of Round Rock, Texas; his daughters, Dawn Sweet and husband, Steven, of Round Rock, Texas, Amy Herzer and husband, Ron, of Fort Collins, Colorado; grandchildren, Jennifer (Sweet) Wendt, 24, and husband, Jon, of Round Rock, Mary Sweet (19) of Round Rock, Sarah Herzer (19) and Dylan Herzer (17) of Fort Collins; one sister, Margaret Rochelle Margolis of Georgetown, one brother, Joe Estlack and wife, Margie, of San Antonio; and three nephews, Daniel Margolis of New York, Gary Estlack and wife, Amy, of San Antonio, and Larry Estlack and wife, DeeAnn, of San Antonio.
