Deloris was born in Port Acres to Reka Ella and Ted Lewis Galloway on February 5, 1935. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class in 1953. Deloris married Harvey Otto Carl Meiske on February 6, 1953 and they had many, many wonderful years together until he passed away in 2013.
This magnificent force of a lady, Deloris Meiske, aka Aunt Dee Dee, Granny, Yanny Moe, and Daughty was so loved and will be greatly missed by all of us that she left behind. Deloris was an accomplished vocalist and recorded a full gospel album. She had the voice of an angel and loved to sing. She was also a great artist and really shined with her talent with pastels. She liked doing portraits of her family and would attempt most anything if the subject interested her. She won awards for multiple pieces of her art as well as won an award for her portrait of a dear friends’ dog, Schultz II.
Her community activities centered mainly around her church, to include running a bus ministry with Harvey in Jonestown where they lived for many years while their children were young and the Texas Extension Education Association. She was a member of the TEEA club for 58 years where she was recognized and won many awards, too numerous to list, over the years including the Texas Treasure Award in 2022, for her dedication and many accomplishments throughout her years as a member.
She is survived by her two children Gayle Lenore Meiske and Olen Harvey Meiske, her grandchildren Shannon Meiske, Katherine Meiske and Olen Emery Meiske, and 6 great grandchildren.
We are so sad that she is not here with us on earth anymore, but so very happy that she has found her peace and has joined her loved ones in heaven.
The family of Deloris Meiske is requesting in lieu of flowers, consider a donation toward a dignified double memorial stone. Zelle 254-317-4423 or Venmo @Dara-Holdstock.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 in the Cook-Walden/Capital Park Funeral Home, with the Funeral Service starting at 2:00 pm. The interment will immediately follow in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
