

Derrick was born September 30, 1980 in Houston, Texas to Lucinda (Coleman) Brass and Samuel Brass Jr. He attended school in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Whereas he was the baby of four children, he had a lot to live up to, he was determined that he would do better and accomplish what he wanted to do. He would say “I’m going to do this,” all sports and JROCT – and he did. He even called drills for National Honors in Dayton Beach, Florida. Even though he was ill you would never have known.
Derrick leaves to cherish his memories. His mother Mrs. Lucinda "Cindy" Coleman (Joe) Pops, His father Samuel Brass Jr., one sister: Faith S. Brass, two brothers: Kenneth D. Brass (Martha), Fredrick D. Brass (Kim), his Grandfather Samuel Brass Sr, a host of nieces and nephews; Kendedric L. Brass, Kenya D. Brass, Analyrica Brass, Tatiana Brass, Alana Brass, Gabrielle Nivon Jones, he named her and Jaylon M. Brass, all he considered his children. Deyn T. Brass, Tai Dylan Brass, and Jayla N. Brass; God brothers Travis Flunder, James McCreary R.L.Anderson. Host of aunts, uncles, first cousins, and friends that loved him deeply. He also leaves two best friends, sister Faith Brass and Travis Flunder Brass.
Derrick encouraged his nieces and nephews to get a good education because he never got to finish college. Derrick was also ranked among the top in his college class. The family would like to thank all the Doctors, nurses, Respiratory Therapy, ICU & IMC personnel of St. David’s Medical Center located in Austin, TX. Heartfelt thanks to Pastor Wright, Elders, Ministers and Deacons that visited with Derrick during his hospital stay. To all persons’ that said a prayer or just said, “God Bless You,” we sincerely thank each of you!
Visitation for Derrick T. Brass will be Sunday, June 9, 2013 from 6PM to 8PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, Pflugerville, Texas. Services will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Sweet Home Baptist Church located at 3200 Sunrise Road Round Rock, Texas 78665.
