Dolores R. Aguirre
November 22, 1922 – April 16, 2010
Dolores Rivera Aguirre, 87, was called to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 16, 2010. Dolores was a devoted wife, mother to six children, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and mother-in-law. Her sons-in-law considered her the “The Best Mother-In-Law Ever.” She was a very proud individual who valued life and never took anyone or anything for granted. She embraced her Hispanic Heritage and the love of her religion. Dolores truly believed in the Power of Prayer and everything it stood for. Dolores appreciated the finer things life had to offer. Dolores was employed at Seton Medical Center working in the Labor & Delivery Department, retiring after 25 years of dedicated service. Her love of children was always present, as she spent her retirement years caring for and watching over children of family and friends. You could always count on Dolores to care for those she loved. She cherished every moment she spent with them, that is of course when she was not watching her adored Novellas. In later years, Dolores struggled with many illnesses, but remained a true fighter who held her head high and stayed strong as long as she could. She was never alone. Dolores was unconditionally loved and cared for by a family who will always remember and admire her strength, courage, wisdom, independence, spark, witty humor and her smile…. that lit up any room. She will be missed by all.
Dolores rejoices beside her Heavenly father as she is reunited with her parents, Augustine and Maria de Jesus Rivera; her husband of over 64 years, Trinidad H. Aguirre; and her beloved daughters, Caroline Jawaorski and Susan Aguirre. Dolores leaves behind those to cherish her memory; son-in-law, Mark Jawaorski; daughter, Mary Louise Aguirre; son, Tito Aguirre; daughter, Dolores Aguirre; daughter, Sandra Treviño & son-in-law, Peter; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and countless special loved ones and friends.
A special note of gratitude and appreciation is extended to Dolores’s dearly loved son-in-law, Peter for opening his heart and home these last several years. His support for Dolores and his wife, Sandra is a special blessing and will always be remembered. Granddaughters, Annissia and Stephanie for always taking turns supporting their mother and grandmother and helping out anyway they could. The laughter, the stories, as well as the tears we all shared will stay with us forever.
The Treviño family would like to recognize Dr. Pete Garcia, M.D., Internal Medicine and Alice for guiding us throughout this journey always there with your unwavering support, kindness, and your insight guiding us whenever we needed you. Special thanks to Dr. David Garza, Dr. Javier Sanchez, Dr. Jeffrey Apple, Dr. Michael Shapiro & Dr. Emmanuel C. Edoka for all their love and care in Dolores’ last days.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. I also remember going to visit at your house and being welcomed with open arms by both your mom and your dad. Especially all the time I spent with you when you were preparing for your Quince. Your parents eventually decieded to invite me to spend the night.
You were and still are truely blessed to have had such a wonderful mom.
My prayers are with you and your family at this most difficult time.

We called her "Ma" and Mr. Aguirre "Tata". Ma was the best caregiver to my babies, David Noriega and Ana Alvarez. She referred to them as "mijo" and "mija." She treated them as her own grandchildren, and they basically were. I can still smell breakfast when I would drop my babies off at her house. She would greet them with tortillas and refried beans and of course a big hug and kiss every morning. Many times it was hard to get the kids to come home after being with Ma all day.
Ma, we will ALWAYS remember you and the love you gave to us. Thank you for being part of our lives.......Cindii, Albert and Ana Alvarez and David Noriega.

My childhood memories come flooding back of the times I used to visit my childhood friend, Sandra, in her Team Beat poster-decorated room. Mrs. Aguirre was always a gracious host, greeting me with a hug and smile and talking with two, young teens as Sandra and I snacked at the table.
I also have memories of her faithfully going to the beauty shop around the corner on Comal and returning with her nicely-styled hair. As time progressed, she could no longer walk alone, however, those visits to the beauty shop did not end. Any member of her family was there to make sure she kept her appointments.
Blessings to the Aguirre family for the loss of the matriarch of their family. My thoughts and prayers go to Sandra, Peter, Annissia and Stephanie Trevino. May the memory of your time with her bring comfort to you as you face the days without her in your daily presence. She is now with God.
