He married the love of his life, Cora Helen Franks, on February 20, 1954. Don received his Associates Degree in Credit Union Management and his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Don served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1980 and retired after achieving the rank of CMSgt. He worked at various financial institutions in the management capacity. Throughout his life, Don was involved in volunteer work with several organizations and he was a dedicated volunteer for 17 years at South Austin Medical Center. He retired in 2013. He was a member of Berkeley United Methodist Church, Austin Retired Chiefs Society, and a life member of the VFW.
Family and friends were a priority. Don and Helen celebrated birthdays and holidays with family members and friends. Don always had a smile on his face and made many friends wherever he went. He had a passion for wood working and enjoyed watching Longhorn Football.
Don is survived by his wife of 64 wonderful years, Helen, children, Karen, David, and Pamela. He had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren that will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35 Pflugerville, Texas 78660, on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral Service will be held in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 with the committal service immediately following at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
