Dad’s greatest legacy is not found in the planes he flew, the degrees he earned, or the career he built, but in the family he cherished and the lives he touched. His quiet faithfulness, unwavering love, and steadfast character will continue to guide us for generations.
Our father lived a life defined not by his accomplishments, but by his integrity, consistency, and unwavering love, which became the foundation of our family.
Born on February 26, 1939, in Manhattan, KS, he graduated from St. George High School before earning degrees in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science. He proudly served as a US Air Force fighter pilot in the Vietnam War before enjoying a distinguished engineering career with Tracor/BAE Aerospace.
On April 10, 1960, he married the love of his life, Dolores “Annie” Roberts. Together they shared more than 66 years of unwavering love, faith, & devotion, creating a home where laughter and unconditional love flourished.
Together they adopted four children— Jeff, Marci, Christine, and Michael, showing us family is built by love, not biology.
Dad’s greatest legacy is not found in the planes he flew, the degrees he earned, or the career he built, but in the family he cherished and the lives he touched. His quiet faithfulness, unwavering love, and steadfast character will continue to guide us for generations. One of his greatest joys was becoming “Papa” to his grandchildren, Cierra and Maxwell, and later to his great-grandson, Remy. He loved showing Remy off on his scooter & giving him chocolate.
Even as Parkinson’s disease gradually limited his body, his quick wit, gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, amazing snicker and deep love for his family remained unchanged.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Jeff, and is now reunited with him in Heaven where we are sure they’re enjoying a Dr. Pepper with a side of spam while watching West Wing.
He is survived by his devoted wife of more than 66 years, Annie; his children, Marci, Christine, and Michael; his daughter-in-law, Karen; his granddaughter, Cierra, and her wife, Sarah who he loved as his own; his grandson, Maxwell; his precious great-grandson, Remy; his sister, Linda; and many extended family members and dear friends.
We will forever be grateful for the privilege of calling him our husband, father, grandfather, Papa, and friend. His love will remain in our hearts until we meet again.
