Dorothy Jean Brown

Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the Late. Rev. H.A. Green. She later joined St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Eugene Ross of Bryan, Texas. Before her death, her days were spent enjoying her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family.

Dorthy attended public school at Bakersfield High School in Bakersfield, California. She attended Blinn University in Bryan, Texas. She worked at Sherwood Nursing Home, University Nursing Home, St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas, Heatherwilde Nursing Home in Pflugerville, Texas, and Southwood Nursing Home in College Station, Texas, as an LVN Charge Nurse for 46 years.

The family of Dorothy Jean Brown celebrates the harvests of her labor and enjoyed the time God gave her to us. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Edward Willie Brown; her parents, Deloan and Addel Moore; brother Leon Moore of Bakersfield, California; and nephew Arvell Jerry Lewis of Los Angeles, California.

She leaves to cherish her memories her three children: Linda Shotwell of Hutto, Texas, Deon Shotwell (Sandra) of Pflugerville, Texas, and Damoned Brown of Hockley, Texas; Sister Delean Flowers (Donald) of Pflugerville, Texas; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephew and family.

A celebration of life for Dorothy will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
