Douglas was born on December 30, 1943, in Baytown, Texas to Joseph Edward Beal and Daisy Marie (McKay) Beal. He was a proud Gander graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas, Class of 1962. He obtained his Bachelors of Journalism in Advertising from University of Texas at Austin, Class of 1970. Doug was employed as a Business Manager with the State of Texas, retiring in 1996. Working for Xerox Business Services as a Client Account Manager until his second retirement in 2011. Doug was a gentle, caring and loving husband, father, and friend to so many. He will be forever remembered for his quiet, kind spirit that was filled with witty jokes, old stories and so much knowledge and interest in the world around him and historically. He was steadfast in all he did for family, friends, and anyone he met. He loved deer hunting and football season and always exhibited a strong faith in the Lord. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Doug married Veggie Jane Lebow on March 6, 1982 in Austin, Texas.
In addition to his wife of 37 years he is survived by his three children, daughter Adrienne Alice Beal of Austin, Texas; sons Joseph Edward Beal of Pflugerville, Texas and Jeffrey Douglas Beal and his wife Heidi of New Braunfels, Texas and their children, Eriana, Miriam, Brayden & Jaycee. He is also survived by brother Robert Joseph Beal and wife June of San Antonio; sisters Vaudine Beal Dillard of Norman, Oklahoma, and Dorothy Beal Koetter and husband Juergen “Skipper” of Victoria, Texas. Brother-in-laws: Bobby Glenn Lebow and wife Barbara of College Station, Texas and Reuel Parks Lebow and wife Brenda of Highlands, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many extended family members and close friends.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie & Daisy Beal, older sister Maurine Beal Roberts and her husband Bobby as well as brother-in-law Bill Dillard, brother-in-law George Edward Lebow and sister-in-law Wanda Clymer Lebow and his first wife, Jeff’s mother, Karen Wood Hobbs.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Pflugerville First United Methodist Church, 500 East Pecan Street, Pflugerville, Texas 78660 with Pastor Russell Floyd & Pastor Ken Dillard (nephew) officiating.
