

Edward Gamble Jr., beloved son of the late Hester Gamble and Edward Gamble Sr., was born on July 1, 1953, in Salters, SC. He was a 1971 graduate of Williamsburg County Technical High School in Greeleyville, SC. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 29 years, Barbara Green-Gamble; three daughters, Aisha "Nikki" Martin (Ricardo), Tifeney Devance, and Tori Williams; four siblings, Joanne Gamble-Crewsaw (Charles), Kim Gamble, Edie Robinson, and Joseph Shaw; five grandchildren, Shai, Sade, Cashele, Cyla (Deron), and Christopher; and six great-grandchildren, Amari, Osiah, Harmoney, Legend, Nyanna, and Cyaire.
Edward "Ed" Gamble Jr. honorably served his country in the United States Army for nearly 20 years as a Motor Transportation Unit Supply Specialist. During his distinguished military career, he completed three tours of service. He earned numerous medals, badges, and commendations, including the Kuwait Liberation Medal during the Gulf War, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, and the Southwest Asia Service Medal with stars. These honors reflected his unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to serving his country.
Following his retirement from the military, Edward continued his strong work ethic in several professions. Among his most treasured accomplishments was his service with the Texas Department of Public Safety Facilities Headquarters, where he faithfully worked for more than 10 years before retiring. During his time there, Edward became more than a coworker - he became family.
Known affectionately by many names including Ed, Eddie, Topsy, Chop Chop, Scratch Off, Gamble, and Chicken Leg Honey Butter Biscuit, he brought laughter, energy, and joy everywhere he went. Many will forever remember hearing him arrive on a hot day joyfully exclaiming, "Geezz!" - a sound that echoed through the office and instantly brought smiles to those around him.
Ed was truly loved by everyone who knew him. His presence was unforgettable and his heart immeasurable. He had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, welcomed, and valued. To his family, he was more than a husband, father, grandfather, and brother - he was the foundation, the protector, the glue that held everyone together, and a constant source of unconditional love.
He leaves behind a legacy of strength, service, laughter, and love that will live on through his children, grandchildren, family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. Although our hearts are heavy in his absence, we celebrate the incredible man he was and the beautiful memories he created with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Ed will forever be remembered for the joy he brought into every room and as his family's hero - cherished, unforgettable, and deeply loved always.
Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660, US, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. A Special Talk to follow from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542, US, on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
