Emil was born on September 4, 1920 in Washtucna, Washington to the late Burt William Bowen and Ruth Bonnie (Rose) Bowen. Emil was a Veteran having served with the United States Army. He was a hardworking, honest and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to so many. Emil was known as jack of all trades working tirelessly over the years as auto mechanic, general contractor, and owner and operator of Baldwin Trading Post as well as fixer extraordinaire of anything. He can be forever remembered for his love of family, fishing, the great outdoors, music and singing, cooking good BBQ, his generosity and never ending support. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Emil married Consuelo Benavides in 1944 and she preceded him in death in 1987. He is survived by his nine children, Connie Preston, Dean & Judy Bowen, Rita Young, Mary & A.J. Pacini, Bert Bowen, Patricia & Michael Holland, Richard Bowen, Diana Cornelison, John & Trish Bowen; 27 grandchildren as well as numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many extended family members. In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by two daughters, Anita Douglas and Bonnie Wilson.
A Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. Funeral Celebrant Donna Mayfield will be officiating. Active Duty Military honors will be afforded following the services at the graveside. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home.
