Her husband, Lee Weldon Munson passed away December 25, 2004. She is survived by son Chris Munson and wife Donna, daughter Cheryl Munson, and son Keith Munson and wife Susan Munson. She has seven grandchildren, three from Chris and Donna, and four from Keith and Sue. Chris and Donna’s children are Shelley Munson Hazy, Clayton Munson, and Erin Munson Valencia. Keith and Sue’s children are Rebecca Munson Lollar, Kevin Munson, David Luke Munson, and Kathrynn Munson. Ernestine has four great-grandchildren. Shelley Hazy and her husband Scott have two sons, Shepherd and Henry. Becky Lollar and her husband Scott have two daughters, Rosalie and Violet.
Ernestine grew up in a farming family, was salutatorian of her high school class, and went to Dallas to work as a riveter at North American Aviation during WWII. She met Lee there, who also worked at North American. He was drafted a few months later, they maintained correspondence during the war and were married after his discharge and return home. They moved to the Austin area to begin farming, but drought changed that plan. They both found work in Austin and lived here for the rest of their lives.
Ernestine dedicated her life to raising her children and keeping the home. She enjoyed traveling with Lee for many years before and after his retirement, and was very involved with all the grandchildren. She accepted Christ as her savior as a child, and lived for Him for the rest of her life. She raised her children in a Godly home and helped guide us to the same acceptance of Christ. Her life was well-lived, and we are thankful for it.
